Jessica Damsky is a practicing artist, professor, and curator, based in Portland OR; but has previously been active in Seattle, Hawaii, and NYC. Her award-winning work has been shown nationally, and internationally. Damsky is primarily an oil painter, but uses other 2-dimensional media such as graphite, silverpoint, and watercolor.

Damsky’s work addresses the contemporary western mindset towards femininity, and the remnants of antiquated belief structures that dictate how women are perceived. She comments on how women are regarded as the more irrational and passionate of the sexes, products of biology and nature. Damsky appropriates female archetypes from art history, and shows them under attack.
